POLICE OFFICER THOMAS V. PEGUES, and his partner,
were on foot patrol assigned to vehicle safety checks on New York Blvd. on August 19, 1974, in the 103 Precinct.
They stopped a car containing 2 suspicious men and arrested the driver.
Without warning, the passenger suspect pulled out a gun
and shot the young TPF cop in the back, killing him instantly.
Both suspects were later arrested.
Officer Pegues was a US Marine, Vietnam, combat veteran.
