!HURRICANE ALERT!

Hurricane Ian is on it’s way towards the west coast of Florida. Forecasts are for a very severe storm with the potential for extreme damage.

There are currently over 50 REMA members living in Florida, both part time and full time. You can check the ‘REMA Florida Residence Map’   HERE  to see who and where your neighbors live. Use it to offer and to seek assistance. It’s what we do!

A few members have  offered to host anyone who needs a place to ride out the storm during evacuations. Contact REMA if you need any assisitance.  Remember, safety first. Be safe and let us know if REMA can help in any way.

emergency service division

25 years later

August 13, 1950

The Emergency Service Division was created in 1925 in response to the increasing number of emergencies in our growing city. From jewelry lost in a drain to a poor soul trapped underneath a train, and everything in between . . . and then some! The Division consisted of land: Emergency Service; Sea: Harbor and air: Aviation. This is an article from August 13, 1950 that tells some of the stories from the previous quarter century. Seventy plus years later the stories still amaze.
