Most are aware of the recent passing of retired Police Officer Andrew Powell, ESS Truck 8. Below is information on his celebration of life:

2027 CALENDAR UPDATE The status of the 2027 calendar has been changed from cancelled to delayed. Due to a handful of messages asking for the calendar, I will do a 2027 calendar. Still only 4 people sent it pictures, of which 2 sent the same pictures a few years ago. I know of at least two members, (oops, sorry, one refuses to be a REMA member) that have tons of pictures but won’t send them. The lack of interest makes the creative process exponentially difficult. If you have a picture you want to be considered please send it in asap. The format will change and less pictures will be used but I won’t disappoint. The calendar will be ready for the Christmas lunch.

Memorial mass for

Det. John D’allara

The annual 9/11 Memorial Mass for Police Officer John D’Allara, ESS 2, will be on  September 11, 2026. The Mass begins at 7AM on the morning of September 11th. Location is: St. Mary, Star of the Sea, City Island, NY. John’s brother Danny invites everyone to attend.

The annual Holy Rood Cemetery visits will continue this year. Meet at the burial plot of Thomas Langone located at the Memorial Statue between 0945 and 1000 hours

This time frame should give those that go to the truck ceremonies plenty of time to make it.

Everyone is invited to the annual ESS Truck 1 Reading of the Names ceremony. RSVP is appreciated so enough food for a light breakfast will be on hand. You can still just show up if your plans change and you hadn’t RSVP’ed. Arrival time is 0700 to 0815 hours.
