On January 31, 2004, Sergeant Keith A. Ferguson, Emergency Squad 7, was on the Hercules-Team,
a special anti-terrorism detail, in Manhattan, when he heard a foot-patrol officer’s urgent calls for help. 
Running to assist the officer, who was arresting a suspect on Broadway and Grand Street, the sergeant collapsed.
Sergeant Ferguson, the son of retired NYPD Police Officer Victor Ferguson,
was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, but his life could not be saved.
