SERGEANT GEORGE NADLER
EMERGENCY SERVICE SQUAD 13
FEBRUARY 1, 1935
It was pre-dawn on February 1, 1935, when Sergeant George Nadler
responded with Emergency Squad 13, to a gas leak at a furniture store,
located Hoyt & Livingston Streets, in Brooklyn. The store was filled with leaking gas.
He knew he had little time, yet he made sure the last innocent was safely evacuated.
When the store blew, a massive sidewalk canopy collapsed,
crushing and killing Sergeant Nadler underneath.
