Two hundred eighty names were added to the Walls of Honor this year. For NYPD Emergency Service, this was our second year of adding the names of our members that served or are still serving our Country, carrying on with an idea that retired REMA member Bobby Gates, ESS Truck 1 had in 2021. Forty more names, seventy eight in total, with service ranging from World War Two up through current times. A perfect weather day only made the crowd grow. It included those being honored, their families, and the families and friends of those Honorees no longer with us. A few short speeches by local dignitaries and politicians, all showing support for America and her Veterans, prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of God Bless America and wrapping it up was a NYC Police Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums piper playing a medley of military theme songs. A perfect day for sure.

The words of retired Sergeant Paul Hargrove sums up the day perfectly: 
  “I would like to thank you all for your support today. To all who were physically present and those who were with us in spirit, Thank You! Having my name added to the Veterans Wall in Eisenhower Park is an Honor, especially being with all those who served in ESU. My family felt your strength and knows you are with them. God Bless you all”.
