rema meeting

september 15, 2022

Hard to believe that it’s been nearly three years since our last meeting at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant.  A nice turnout on hand to keep our promise to “Never Forget” our lost ESU Heroes of September 11th and those afterwars.  As with every September meeting, the their names were read aloud, along with the slideshow of their faces. Opening the ceremony with the singing of our National Anthem was Carly McCaffrey, daughter of REMA member Owen McCaffrey.

Of course the war stories began to flow immediately afterwards, as the delicious buffet lunch was being prepared. After lunch the raffle commenced. The big winner was Ray Bordanaro, founding father of the ERV, as he won the 32 inch television door prize. Ray is featured in the 2023 REMA calendar with the story of how the Emergency Rescue Vehicle came into being. Other prizes include an Amazon Echo Dot and REMA swag, along with the usual 50/50.

A collection was started to benefit the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. Nearly $300 was collected. That, along with monies collected at the REMA Car Show two days later, and a contribution by REMA, put the total donation at $1000! A check was sent in the name of Antonio (Favara) Fernandez, grandson of Tony, who is fighting this disease.

Until the next meeting, enjoy the pictures.
