A regional REMA meeting was held in Rockland County, bringing a nice crowd with a few new faces. The hero sandwiches and salads went over great with the hungry crowd, as did the pasta, sausages and chicken hot dishes. Dessert was a cake which added a sweet finish to the day.

We salute REMA North Delegates Fred Martucci, Mike Sweeney and Evan Schwerner for a “job-well-done” in their outstanding management of the REMA luncheon on June 14, 2023, at the Kearsing Edwards American Legion Post in Pomona, NY.

Twenty five REMA members enjoyed the family-style, outdoor setting in a covered pavilion in the spacious, grassy field of the Post, giving a picnic feel for our brothers and sisters, who broke bread and renewed friendships and stories of our glory days in Emergency.

REMA photographer Tom Sullivan snapped many shots of the gathering including a “Get-Well” pic for ailing brother Rich Gundacker – a true hero and veteran of Truck 3. The winner of the $100 50/50 donated the prize to a fund for ‘Gunny’ to help his family. An additional $125 was added from the ‘lunch crowd’ to bring the total to $225 being given to Rich and his family. 

There was a door prize, a cash raffle, swag sales and a glistening array of challenge coins on sale for our colleagues in need, which Frank Ferrara displays – his coins can be quite large but not nearly as big as his heart for E-Men.

The North Delegates have led the way forward in establishing our regional meetings that allow members local access and precious time with ESU partners and responder cohorts.

REMA is proud and thankful for the Delegates’ hard work – they truly exemplify our future team-REMA vision.
