On April 27, 1994, Police Officer Jose Perez was on patrol when members of the 78th precinct Anti-Crime Team called for assistance as they pursued six robbery suspects. While en-route to the urgent backup, Officer Perez’s patrol vehicle collided with another patrol car that had also rushed to the call. Officer Perez was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he died from his injures.
