2024 REMA CHRISTMAS PARTY

AND HOLIDAY MEETING

DECEMBER 12, 2024

The end of year REMA Christmas party and Holiday meeting was held on December 12th at Vetro’s Restaurant and Lounge in Howard Beach, Queens. We had 82 members in attendance. We had to guarantee a base number, which we did; however 14 who RSVP’d were NO SHOWS, and no shows cost money. But to counter the no shows we always get the ‘NO TELLS’, meaning they just show up. This is fine but it messes with the finances. In the end we were short 8 people and had to cover their meals. But the party was “the best one yet” to quote a senior member.  It was very nice to see new ‘old’ faces who came to their first or first in a long time, meeting. The food was superb as usual, service first class and the company, well what can you say? It’s always an honor and pleasure to be around our brothers and sisters as we share laughs and stories from days past  We even got to hear current news and stories from active members of REMA. Yes it’s true, actual breathing active REMA members were 84, on the scene. We thank them for coming and hope more will follow their example in the future. And most of all we remembered our lost members. We vow never to forget and we will keep that promise till the ‘last man’.

Coffee & Cake?
The wait staff was awesome and left nothing to be desired.
The party gets better every year.

Once again we Honored our friends and colleagues that are no longer with us by setting a ‘Table for One”.

We will always remember them in prayer and friendship.

The 32 inch TV door prize was won by retired Tk 1’er  Sgt. Gene O’Connor.
That’s two years in a row the door prize was taken home by an alumni of Truck 1.
As ‘someone’s’ wife said: “Who wants a 32″ TV now-a-days”?,
and after a few ‘complaints’, we are happy to announce
that next year the prize will be larger.

When asked what he will do with the TV,
Gene stated that he will watch reruns of the 1989 -1990 TV series
True Blue, and look for himself on the screen.

Both winning 50/50 members donated their cash back.
Above is Jimmy Moran giving his share,$200, to Frank Farara for the E-Strong fund.

The other $200 was given back by, I don’t remember who,
someone please tell us, and a check was written to the
PBA Widows and Orphans Fund for $250 by REMA.
REMA also made a donation to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church,
REMA’s official spiritual home, on behalf of the REMA membership.

So, enjoy the pictures and a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year to all!

If you have pictures of the luncheon to share, feel free to send them to us and they’ll be added here.
