Roy Bocina passed away on Saturday August 21 at the age of 55. Roy had been battling dementia for an extended time and died from complications of the disease.
From 1988 to 1991 Roy served In the United States Army
and after commission and Infantry, Airborne and Ranger training, was assigned to the 82nd Airborne 1/1504 PIR. He led a 38 man Airborne Infantry Platoon during Operation Desert Shield/Deseret Storm in Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.
After serving his country, Roy worked for N.Y. State from 1992 to 1996, as an investigator, and conducted investigations resulting in arrests, and prosecutions in cooperation with the Attorney General’s office, for the Department of Motor Vehicles, Excise Tax, and State Workers Compensation.
In 1996 he entered the NYC Police Department where he worked street patrol. Promoted to Sergeant, he was assigned to Brooklyn North Narcotics, and in 2006 enter the Emergency Service Unit. He retired from ESS Truck 8 in 2013.
